Celebrate your business birthday with your subscribers

Celebrate your business birthday with your subscribers

In your email marketing, you spend a lot of time saying happy birthday to your customers and treating them to something special. But are you celebrating your business birthday with them?

It’s so important to remember that your brand has achieved tons of milestones. In just a year so many things change, and your birthday is such a great way to reflect on this.
Are you unsure how to make your birthday celebrations successful on the sales front? Here are some strategies that work well with our clients:

A new product release

Have you been thinking about launching something new to the market? Your birthday is a great time to do so! It symbolises growth and shows your business is not showing signs of slowing down, even as you become more mature in the market.

When releasing the new product on your birthday, link the two themes together. Chat about how the product is the ‘next step’ in your business’s story or how the product was born. Speak about how their support has made it possible over the years. Remind them how birthday surprises wouldn’t be achievable without them.

For a little extra sales frenzy, launch with a pre-order special or a ‘special’ price on the first units sold, or a gift with purchase.

New product packaging

Don’t have a new product to launch on your big day? That is 100% okay! Not all businesses will grow and scale in the product department. Some will continue to be successful, even with just a few hero products. However, there are still ways that you can make your birthday grand. Limited edition birthday packaging is one of them! Think like Coca-Cola’s ‘Share a Coke with’ campaign. Same product, and the same taste, but something completely new about the packaging that sends people into sales fever!

Making these limited-edition or small batches can ensure that your VIP customers don’t want to miss out.

The strategic birthday sale

A birthday sale is a no-brainer for a business that wants to sell, sell, sell. But this shouldn’t be like any ordinary sale. A birthday sale should be strategically planned and urgency-building. If it’s your 12th birthday, for example, run a 12-hour flash sale to draw those numbers in quickly. If you want something a little more fun, perhaps you could do 12 days, 12 deals. Try to do something different you wouldn’t usually do, so your customers truly get in on the fun.

Free products and giveaways

Gifting is the most common theme with birthdays across the world. So, why not do some reverse gifting on your big day? Instead of accepting gifts, run a gift-with-purchase or a giveaway campaign. The extra value associated with these can inspire customers to purchase, spend a little extra and party with you.

We recommend that the gifts and giveaways you hand out align with your business, too, as these can solidify your branding all the more. Plus, it will align better with your demographic, making your customers all the more hungry for the win. For example, an eco-friendly business might give away a two-night stay at a sustainable retreat.
